Who Sits as Over/Underrated on the 07 Giants?
Posted by Stephen Rhodes on June 25th, 2007 filed in OpinionsPete Prisco apparently has done his homework on studying the Giants as of late, evidenced by his picks for the most overrated/underrated Giants out there. According to Prisco in his article dated May 31, he gives no love to a certain former Dolphins CB and on the flip side respects a former Viking DT. Below are his and my picks:
Prisco’s Pick:
Overrated
Sam Madison, CB. Once upon a time he was a great man cover corner. You’d never know it now.
Steve’s Pick:
Overrated
Sam Madison, CB. I agree with Pete on this one; back in the day, Madison was a
shut-down corner, much like the current “thug dujour”, Pacman Jones. These days, Madison just needs to be shut down. Honorable mention here goes to TE Jeremy Shockey. True enough he is talented, but it seems his immaturity is holding him back. I guess the Maras have the patience of Job on him, only because the TE situation there is iffy, at best.
Prisco’s Pick:
Underrated
DT Fred Robbins. He started all 16 games, getting 62 tackles and 5½ sacks. He’s a good, steady player who doesn’t get much due.
Steve’s Pick:
Underrated
Antonio Pierce, MLB. C’mon, Giants fans admit it. Pierce is about as consistent a LB as you can get these days. He’s a tackle magnet as he had 137 tackles alone in ‘06. Yes, he’s not Brian Urlacher, but then again, who is these days? Robbins is good granted, but then again Tiki Barber was the RB, not Reuben Droughns. He’s not a scrub by any means, but hardly the most underrated, either.
