No Rice for the Giants; DE Leaves Without a Deal
Posted by Matt Loede on August 2nd, 2007 filed in NewsDefensive End Simeon Rice will not become a member of the New York Giants. Reports say that New York showed interest in the former Cardinal and Buccaneer, but not enough for Rice and the team to be able to come to terms on any sort of deal. GM Jerry Reese said that there was “nothing to report” and that it was “a business trip for everybody.” There were rumors that Rice would be the perfect fit for Michael Strahan, who is still undecided if he wants to play in 2007, or retire. “It was a good opportunity to sit and visit with a guy. I’ve known Simeon for a long time. He was a high-school player in Chicago we recruited (while at Boston College),” head coach Tom Coughlin said. Rice is now rumored to be going to Tennessee to visit the Titans.
