Giants’ injuries accumulate in 45-35 loss to Cowboys

Sunday night’s nationally televised game between the New York Giants and the host Dallas Cowboys showcased more than lots of offensive fireworks.  It also showed several Giants players getting bit by the injury bug.  In the 45-35 loss, the Giants suffered several key player losses; starting quarterback Eli Manning suffered a bruised shoulder.

In addition, defensive end Osi Umenyiora suffered a knee injury; X-rays taken of the knee proved negative.  But probably the injury that hurt the Giants the most was the first-quarter injury to starting running back Brandon Jacobs.  He suffered a bruised knee and did not return to the game.  Depending on the final prognosises of the injuries, the Giants may possibly be short-handed for next Sunday’s game (September 16) against the visiting Green Bay Packers.

Assuming the injuries keep the aforementioned 3 players sidelined, you can expect QB Jared Lorenzen to replace Manning, RB Derrick Ward (who has a injury history of his own) to replace Jacobs and possibly Adrian Awasom to fill in for Umenyiora.  The Giants will be facing, in my estimation, a Packers team that is beatable, as the Philadelphia Eagles gave the game literally to the Packers Sunday (thank you very much Eagles special teams).
