Giants Win Overseas Affair With Fins 13-10

Giants huddle up in London

In a game that if you watched it you likely hope they won’t play it again on NFL Network, the Giants did what they had to do and walked out of London with a 13-10 win that was not one for the ages.  There was not much to see on the field at Wembley Stadium on a soggy Sunday, as the teams combined for a lackluster 23 points overall.  The Big Blue improves to 6-2 on the season, while the Dolphins continue to keep pace with the Rams as the only other team not to win a game this year as they sit at 0-8.

It was the first NFL regular season game to be played outside North America, and the league had better think again about doing another game, as this game clearly showed that putting two teams that far away from home at this point in the season is a bad idea.

The Giants offense, which had been playing well, seemed to be stuck in the mud for most of the afternoon.  Eli Manning threw for just 59 yards, and the running game had to carry them as with Brandon Jacobs leading the way with 131 yards they ran for 189 yards on 37 carries.  Overall through, the Giants were only able to put up 238 yards against a team that had allowed yards in bunches most of the season.

The game was also hindered by a steady rain that made it look downright dreary on TV.  As far as wanting to play overseas again, Giants coach Tom Coughlin basically spoke out against it.  “I’ll be glad to give my opinion to the commissioner with the issues that came up,” Coughlin said when asked if the trip was worth it.

What was worth it was the Giants able to get a win, their 6th straight to improve to 6-2 on the season.  New York gets a bye before a huge game with the Cowboys in two weeks.
