Giants Will Clearly Have to Prove Their Worth in the Second Half

As the Giants get set for the second half of the season, every player that is on the 2007 team remembers the letdown of the 06 season, and how the team had to scramble just to make the playoffs before losing to the Eagles in the wild card round. They have promised that the same thing will not happen again this season, but at the same time they will not have the same cupcakes to beat on that they had in the first eight games. Consider that the team lost to the 7-1 Cowboys and 7-1 Packers in weeks one and two, those teams combined are 14-2. They beat the Redskins, Eagles, Jets, Falcons, 49’ers and Dolphins. Only the Skins have a better than .500 record of the group, and combined the teams they have beaten are a whopping 13-36, with the Jets and Fins having only won one game between the two.

The second half will get a lot more interesting and will truly tell us how good, or not so good, this team is. They start with the 7-1 Cowboys again, and then have the surprising 6-2 Lions on the road. In the last three weeks they play the 5-3 Skins, 4-4 Bills and then host the undefeated 9-0 Patriots. The record of the teams they have left is 40-25. Bottom line, if this team is going to stay on the roll they are on, and if they are going to go into the playoffs on a high note, or make them at all, they are going to have to do it against much better competition than they did in the first eight games of the season.
