Manning Won’t Let Backlash Get Him Down

Eli Manning

As is usually the case when the Giants play a poor game and the offense isn’t up to snuff, QB Eli Manning takes the heat. Sunday’s huge loss to the Cowboys, as usual, has left the Giants quarterback open for a lashing by the fans and the media as the team gets ready for another big game this week, this time on the road in Detroit. “You just have to learn to accept it,” he said. “It happens after a loss sometimes. You never know when it is going to happen or what is going to cause it or what strikes it up, but it is out there and you can’t let it affect your personality or the way you are in the locker room or your approach.”

The Giants are 6-3 and two games behind the Cowboys in the NFC East. They appear to be in line for at least a wild card spot, but as everyone knows, the team has been prone to letdowns in the second half in the past, like last year when they had to scrap near the end of the year just to make the playoffs. One player that won’t worry about the talk of last year is Manning, who says his sights are clearly set on Detroit. “We don’t have time to sit back and sulk at all,” Manning said. “Our focus is on Detroit. We know they are fired up for the game and it is a big one for them. With the way they have been playing it is going to be a tough time for us.”
