Big Blue Puts Ward on IR

The Giants officially placed running back Derrick Ward on injured reserve Tuesday.  Ward sustained a broken left leg in Sunday’s win over the Bears.  He rushed for a career-high 154 yards to go with a touchdown before suffering the injury in the fourth quarter.  Ward finishes his season with 602 rushing yards and three TDs.  Starter Brandon Jacobs could return for this Sunday’s contest against Philadelphia after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.  If Jacobs can’t play, Reuben Droughns would likely get the start.  The Giants signed rookie running back Danny Ware off the Jets’ practice squad to take Ward’s roster spot.
