Spagnuolo To Remain With Giants

New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo

The New York Giants can now breath a sigh of relief, as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has been eliminated for consideration for the Washington Redskins’ head coaching position; the Giants formally announced that Spagnuolo has agreed to remain as the team’s defensive coordinator and will receive a new three-year, $6 million contract – which should make Spagnuolo one of the highest paid assistants in the NFL.

Spagnuolo was the seventh – and last – candidate to interview for the Redskins’ head coaching job; but after an exntensive interview process, Spagnuolo opted to remain with the Giants.  His decision is the latest in good news for the Giants who topped their week with the upset win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.  Spagnuolo has served as a personnel scout for the Redskins and San Diego Chargers, a defensive coordinator for 2 different NFL Europe teams and a defensive assistant for several colleges.
