Coughlin’s Extension to Pay Him $21 Million Total

Coughlin

Giants coach Tom Coughlin is on the verge of being a VERY rich man, as reports are the head coach will be getting a new extension that will pay him $21 million over the next four seasons.  Many thought that Coughlin would be fired by now, as he was very much on the hot seat in New York at the start of the season, but now, he’s one of the top coaches in the league again in many insiders eyes after leading the Giants to a Super Bowl title.

The cash that Coughlin will make, about $5.25 mil per season, puts him only behind Mike Holmgren of the Seahawks, who makes $8 mil per season and this will be his last year in Seattle.  The New York Daily News reported that Coughlin was slated to make $3.5 million in 2008 but that contract will be discarded for this new extension, which will take the Giants coach through the 2011 season.
