Strahan is NOT Tiki … Yet
Posted by Martin Alvin on June 27th, 2008 filed in OpinionsWhoa! Hold the phone sports fans! News Flash! My colleague here at Giants Gab, Matt Loede, and I disagree on Michael Strahan’s recent comments on Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress. Seems that Matt sees no difference between Strahan’s type of comments and Tiki’s last year. Well, with all due respect, brother Loede, Strahan was, in fact, commenting on Plaxico’s well documented contract situation and Shockey’s equally well documented unhappiness with the team. But, unlike Tiki, Strahan did not demean either player or the team nor did he reduce either man to “laughable.” That’s a major difference. Yes, Strahan and Tiki are now both professional commentators and, okay, that’s what they should do — comment. But the comments shouldn’t be snickering, condescending, personal attacks. In my humble view, that’s a big difference, brother Loede. A very big difference. Strahan is NOT Tiki … yet.
