Burress Posts $100,000 Bail on Gun Charges
Posted by Matt Loede on December 1st, 2008 filed in News, Police BlotterPlaxico Burress pleaded not guilty in Manhattan Criminal Court this afternoon on two charges of weapons possession. While prosecutors asked the judge for 250-thousand-dollars bail, the bail was set at 100-thousand, which Burress quickly posted and he left court without comment. Burress’ lawyer Ben Brafman spoke afterwards, and was angry about comments made earlier in the day by Mayor Mike Bloomberg. The mayor says Burress should face the maximum punishment for having an unlicensed gun inside the club Latin Quarter Friday night. The gun went off by mistake and Burress suffered a leg wound. Brafman says Bloomberg should not be making any statements until Burress has his day in court. The next court date for Burress will be March 31st.
