The NFL Players Association today filed a grievance against the suspension and fine that was given to six-shooter Plaxico Burress. The suspension and fine came after Burress shot himself by accident in a nightclub about a week and a half ago.
The call by the union is that the G-Men violated the collective bargaining agreement when it placed Burress on the reserve-non football injury list, suspended him for the final four games of the regular season and fined him an additional week’s salary.
Burress will also not play in the playoffs for the Giants, who are looking to repeat as Super Bowl Champs. Carl Francis, the union’s director of communication, said the grievance will be heard by an arbitrator after the season ends.
