Giants-Panthers Prediction

Sunday night presents another huge game for the G-Men. Home field advantage on the line. Whoever wins, Giants or Panthers, is the number one seed. We break it down and give a prediction.

Tough one. The Giants recent offensive struggles have been well documented, and no one is 100% sure if Jacobs is playing. Even if he is, no one knows how effective he will be. Assuming he’s playing and playing well, this is a toss-up. The Panthers two headed monster of Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams has been pretty close to unstoppable the past couple of weeks, and Steve Smith is having a great year once again. If Jacobs is out, or is ineffective, this one clearly goes to the Panthers. But assuming he’s in and effective, I have a feeling that the Giants will rise to the occasion in front of the home crowd. Eli will use Steve Smith and Kevin Boss more, and the running game will be productive enough to outlast the two headed monster. Jake Delhomme is beatable, and the Giants defense can stop the passing game. It’s a good matchup, two good offenses, but I give this one to the Giants.

Another close matchup. Giants have to be angry after losing last week. Panthers are lead by the rising star Jon Beason. Both have good pass defenses. Both have good run defenses. Both have good defenses, period. In this close matchup, you have to go on feel. And I feel that the Giants defense will win out. Home field. Cold weather. Potential for snow. That has Giants written all over it.

This one goes to the Giants. Carney and Feagles are Pro Bowlers (amazing, right?), and if Hixon is on punt and kick return duties, this is a huge advantage in favor of the Giants.

John Fox is a great coach, but Tom Coughlin is the class of the NFC.

This should be a great game. Two teams looking for home field advantage. Two teams clearly at the front of the NFC, perhaps in the NFL. It could go either way. However, I’m going to go with the Giants. They should come out with a desperate attitude, hungry to avenge the last two losses. Final score: Giants 21, Panthers 17. In the end, the Giants defense and will to win, will decide this game in the home team’s favor. If you’re going to the game, bundle up. If not, enjoy the game from the comfort of your heated home.
