Spagnuolo Update

From NJ.com:

“Now that his current team has been eliminated, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo might be ex-Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo very soon. Where’s he going? Anywhere is a possibility right now.

According to a source, Spagnuolo is “in the mix” for the Jets, Lions and Rams jobs. The Broncos’ job is off the table, as Denver has hired New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

We knew Spagnuolo was a candidate for several jobs, but the source indicated he’s more than just an also-ran for all of the jobs and that it’s still too early to tell which one is in the lead or most likely.

The Detroit Free Press is saying Spagnuolo is a “long shot” to coach the Lions, though I’ve been told not to count them out just yet. The Free Press article doesn’t explain why Spagnuolo is a long shot, though it hints it’s because the Lions’ job isn’t the most desireable one. That would surely be the case if Spagnuolo gets offers from the Jets and/or Rams, but that remains to be seen right now.

St. Louis hasn’t interviewed Spagnuolo yet, but that is expected to change soon. The Jets are also likely to grant him another interview.

The Raiders’ job is still open as well, but they haven’t shown much interest in Spagnuolo. And with a few other available options, it would be unlikely he would show interest in them.”
