Tuck Doesn’t Need Surgery

From NJ.com:

“It’s baggie day at Giants Stadium, which means the focus has quickly shifted to the players that are leaving (James Butler?), the ones that are perhaps coming back (Plaxico Burress?) and the ones that are hurt and could need surgery. In the case of DE Justin Tuck (lower leg), he won’t be going under the knife – at least not yet.

“If I can play with it, I don’t need to get anything done,” Tuck said. Asked why he wouldn’t undergo surgery, he quickly replied, “Because I don’t like getting cut up.”

Okay, but what is “it?” In other words, what’s Tuck’s injury that’s been described by the team as a “lower leg” ailment?

“I’ve got a few injuries,” Tuck said. “I can’t talk about injuries. You know that.”

Tuck said it was a combination of problems that resulted in the team’s calling his injury a “lower leg” issue.

“I’m not a doctor and I couldn’t even quote you the way they categorized the injury,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “It’s painful, but it will take some time. One of the things we say to the players in that last meeting is if there are some surgeries to be done, they need to be done right away. But I don’t think this is a surgical procedure. They expect with time he’ll be okay.”
