From NJ.com:
“The Giants are looking for a new LB coach to replace Bill Sheridan, who was promoted to defensive coordinator earlier this week. They have two candidates on their staff in David Merritt and Andre Curtis. But my spies down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., tell me the name to keep an eye on is Jim Herrmann.
Herrmann, 48, was the Jets’ LBs coach for the past three seasons after 20 years as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan – the last nine of which he was defensive coordinator. That’s where Sheridan coached for three seasons before he joined the Giants, so it could be an interesting reversal of roles if Herrmann is hired. Sheridan would now be Herrmann’s defensive coordinator.
There was some recent speculation Herrmann would return to Michigan as defensive coordinator, but the school hired former Syracuse coach Greg Robinson instead.
Again, this is what’s being thrown around in ‘Bama, so nothing’s official yet. Also, I hear the team will – or perhaps already has – hired a new assistant OL coach to replace Dave DeGuglielmo, who left for the Dolphins recently. I don’t have a name, though I hear he has Boston College connections. I’ll work on getting you a name.”
