Early Draft Thoughts

With the Senior Bowl getting underway, I thought it was time to brainstorm what positions the Giants should target in April’s draft. As the draft gets closer, Giants Gab will be your Giants Draft Central, with news, rumors, scouting reports, and mock drafts. Until then, here’s a quick brainstorm.

RECEIVER:

Even if Plax comes back, this is a need. I keep debating back and forth between a speed burner DeSean Jackson type, or a tall Plax type. I think both are needs, with the tall Plax type at the top. If he’s not back, Eli needs that big target on third downs and in the red zone, someone who defenses will have to double-team.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKER:

The Giants have to stop the revolving door at outside linebacker. I think that this should be their first round pick. The Giants should get someone who can be an anchor for 10 years.

RUNNING BACK:

Let’s face it: Both Jacobs and Ward aren’t coming back. So they’ll need a replacement. I would like to see someone similar to Ward–shifty and elusive,  yet powerful.

DEFENSIVE END:

They need some depth at this position, so this should be addressed in the later rounds.

When you think about it, the Giants don’t have many needs. Plug a few holes here and there and the giants will be fine.
