Jim Herrmann is New Linebackers Coach

From NJ.com

The Giants didn’t have to look very far to find a new defensive coordinator, tapping Bill Sheridan on the shoulder earlier this week to replace Steve Spagnuolo. And their search to fill in for Sheridan at linebackers coach was nearly as quick, as the Giants officially announced Jim Herrmann’s hiring this afternoon.

Herrmann’s appointment was reported to be all but a done deal earlier in the day at NJ.com. Herrmann spent the past three seasons with the Jets, and worked as the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan before that. He and Sheridan worked together with the Wolverines.

“I am excited to be a part of the Giants,” Herrmann said in a statement released by the Giants. “I have watched Coach (Tom) Coughlin and his teams and the way they have played and how they win, and I like being a part of that.”

Said Coughlin: “What I really look forward to is the fact that I believe he will hit the ground running.”
