From NY Daily News:
Is Eli Manning about to sign a blockbuster new contract with the Giants?
According to a report in the National Football Post, it’s “very close” to happening.
But according to multiple NFL sources, it’s not close at all.
Now, as I told you a few weeks ago, it’s going to happen eventually. At some point in the next year, probably this offseason, the Giants are going to give him a blockbuster contract. And when the dust clears, it’s likely to be a seven- or eight-year deal in the $110-120 million range.
And when it happens, it could happen quickly. One agent who has been involved in major deals told me that sometimes deals as big and complicated as this one is likely to be can be negotiated in a matter of days if both sides are motivated to do it.
However, from what my sources are saying, the sides aren’t that motivated at the moment, they’re not close, and there’s no imminent announcement.”
