RB Ward’s Reps Meet w/ Giants Officials About Possible Return

While it seems like the Giants would be better off more with Brandon Jacobs as their starting RB than Derrick Ward, there still sems to be a chance that Ward will be back with the club. Today’s Newsday talks about Ward’s reps meeting with the Giants about what type of deal might be on the table for the back.

Derrick Ward’s chances of playing for the Giants in 2009 are still pretty slim, but the team isn’t going to let a 1,000-yard running back walk away without at least taking a swing. Ward’s representatives will meet with the Giants brass next week, a league source has said, to discuss the possibility of him returning to the Giants’ backfield. Ward and Brandon Jacobs, who each ran for over 1,000 yards last season, are both scheduled to become free agents in about three weeks and eight hours.
