Giants Ink Canty to Six-Year Deal

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News the Giants and Chris Canty have agreed to terms on a six year contract worth $42 million with $17.5 million in guaranteed money. The Giants are calling him a “defensive lineman” because they see him playing both tackle and end positions this season. Canty, a bronx native, had offers on the table from the Packers, 49ers, Seahawks and Titans but said his heart was set on playing in the Northeast.

With this signing the Giants cupboards are full of defensive linemen and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an existing lineman being released/traded in the near future. With the signing of Canty and Bernard along with the return of Osi the defensive line should be able to hold up better this year and continue to apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks.
