Just a Little Something About Plax

Plaxico Burress
According To

Plaxico Buress has been impossible to find.

“We’re told that the Giants haven’t heard from Burress since the 2008 season ended. We’re also told that efforts by the teto contact Burress have been unsuccessful.”

Burress of course has a trial set for March 31st and the team’s position has been that they will welcome Plaxico Buress back if he escapes legal trouble. This of course begs the question to as to what the Giants plan on doing about Wide Receiver for the upcoming season if Plaxico Buress is not present.

If Buress is jailed would the Giants go after Anquan Boldin? I think Giants fans would love to see that, even if the Giants have to give up draft picks and a big contract Boldin he’s probably worth it. Boldin is best going over the middle and shorter routes which would complement Hixon’s and Manningham’s big play potential as Wide Receiver if they are not the focal of the passing game.

With huge speculation that something will happen during the draft, I offer up a possible solution to the WR position that might not even cost a 1st or early second round draft pick.

That player is Cal Poly’s Ramses Barden who is fast rising up draft boards. Barden is a 6-6! Athletic freak who just ran a 4.51 40 yard dash at his pro day. Barden might come cheap too possibly in the third round or beyond if the Giants don’t want to use a pick on Wide Receiver early in the draft.

More and more speculation has been linking the Giants to Hakeem Nicks out of North Carolina as the Giants favorite WR at the end of the first round.

Also DE/OLB prospect Connor Barwin has been evaluated as a tight end prospect (he played tight end early in college) and according to the New York Giants sent tight end coach Mike Pope to evaluate Barwin’s possible transition to Tight end.

It should be interesting and here’s to hoping this Buress situation works itself out sooner rather than later.

I think the NYG should go after Boldin no matter what happens with Plax. I don’t know about you, but I am salivating when I think about an offense with Plax AND Boldin, along with a devastating power running game. Teams could not put 8 or even seven in the box without getting gashed with play-action and downfield passing. If Plax does not come back, worse that can happen is Boldin is the number 1 reciever on a team that is still favored to go to the SB. I am sure that the NYG braintrust has at least looked at this scenario.

I also like Barden in the third round, but think we need to add a veteran if Plax isn’t going to be around…
Nicks does look like the pick, though I think I’d prefer Harvin or Cook…

    Thanks for the responses fellas

I would like to add either Boldin or Braylon Edwards, even if Edwards as trouble catching the ball sometimes.

I agree we could use a veteran.

I was suprised with how little we’e been interested in Torry Holt, he’s not that old and can still play.

perhaps something will happen soon though
