Contrary to a previous report, the Giants did not offer players to the Browns for WR Braylon Edwards. Here’s the nugget from the Star-Ledger
Someone familiar with the talks between the Browns said no Giants players were offered in the discussions. The person, who asked for anonymity because both teams have not provided specifics of the trade talks publicly, said all talks were merely “preliminary.”Scout.com reported over the weekend the Giants had offered Mario Manningham or Domenik Hixon after denying the Browns’ request for Steve Smith. The person familiar with the talks said that was not the case.
The Giants have 10 picks in next month’s draft, so perhaps they dangled a few of those under Cleveland’s nose. But it doesn’t appear any players were involved.
If the Giants don’t want to give up players for Edwards, they do have the 10 draft picks. It’s an interesting development. Stay tuned.
