Plax Getting Postponement

This from Tom Rock of Newsday:

Just got off the phone with Ben Brafman (more to the point, he got off the phone with me) and he said that Plaxico Burress will in fact be seeking an adjournment during his appearance in court Tuesday morning. “That’s all I have to say,” Burress’ defense attorney said. And he was true to his word.

So what does all this mean? Basically it’s a postponement of the pre-trial hearing scheduled for Tuesday and it’s usually used when the two sides are close to hammering out a plea bargain. I’ve been told that a deal isn’t necessarily imminent, but the two sides have certainly been working on one for the last few months. It’s unclear how long the adjournment will last and when Burress will next be asked back to court.

The hangup is most likely jail time. Plax doesn’t want any. The city does.

We’ll keep you posted.
