Plaxico is Fighting with his Lawyer:

From Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com

Free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress and his criminal defense lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, currently aren’t seeing eye to eye regarding the reluctance of Burress to accept the various plea deals that Brafman has negotiated.

In fact, we’re told that Burress has rejected as many as three offers from prosecutors. Each one would have involved jail time — with Burress released by the start of training camp.

But Burress continues to decline any offer that requires him to go to prison.

And so the alternative is to stand trial, and to risk a mandatory sentence of 3.5 years if a jury finds that the scar in his leg from a bullet constitutes evidence that he was carrying a loaded an unlicensed gun.

Meanwhile, some league insiders are convinced that no team will be genuinely interested in signing Burress unless and until he gets the legal situation resolved.

Keep an eye on this one. And don’t be surprised if the lawyer eventually fires his client.

Will this guy ever grow up and learn? The sad part is that some team will pay him a lot of money when this is all over.
