OVERVIEW

The fifth-year senior was the Huskies’ anchor at the demanding left tackle position the last two years. He started four games at that position during his freshman campaign and took over those duties for the first five contests of the 2006 campaign before a lower right leg fracture vs. South Florida sidelined him for the rest of that season.

 

CAREER NOTES

Beatty started 35-of-39 games he played in at Connecticut, producing 238 knockdowns/key blocks, including 30 touchdown-resulting blocks…During his final two seasons as a full-time starter, he delivered 173 knockdowns, 23 touchdown-resulting blocks, 16 blocks down field and was penalized nine times on 1,592 offensive snaps…Allowed 6.5 quarter-back sacks on 689 pass plays as a junior and senior.

2008 SEASON

Beatty earned All-Big East Conference first-team honors from the league’s media and coaches…Named to The NFL Draft Report’s Super Sleeper Team and garnered All-American honorable mention…Shared the team’s Joseph M. Giannelli Unsung Hero Award this year with teammate Dahna Deleston…Part of an offensive line that paved the way for tailback Donald Brown to lead the nation in rushing, as the Huskies captured the Big East rushing title and ranked 13th in the major college ranks, averaging 216.38 yards per game on the ground…Starting all thirteen games at left tackle, Beatty registered 88 key blocks/ knockdowns that included thirteen touchdown-resulting blocks and nine blocks down field…Penalized three times and allowed a pair of assisted sacks, along with six stops behind the line of scrimmage while participating in 799 plays (including 329 pass plays)…

Beatty returned to action, starting all thirteen games (one of three Husky linemen to start every game) at left tackle…Earned a game ball vs. Maine and shared a game ball with his fellow offensive linemen vs. South Florida…In 793 offensive snaps, the left tackle came up with 85 key blocks/knockdowns, ten touchdown-resulting blocks and seven down field blocks…Allowed 5.5 quarterback sacks and ten tackles behind the line of scrimmage on 360 pass plays…Was penalized six times, but recovered a fumble in the Louisville game…
Part of a unit that ranked fourth in the Big East Conference in rushing, averaging 161.38 yards per game and placed sixth in the league with a total offense average of 347.15 yards.

2007 GAME ANALYSIS

Maine
…Beatty earned the game ball after he delivered six knockdowns and a pair of touchdown-resulting blocks…In the fourth quarter, he simply ran over defensive end Jovan Belcher on a 31-yard scoring scamper by Lou Allen that gave UConn a 38-0 lead…

2006 SEASON
Beatty took over left tackle duties by winning a heated battle in fall camp, going on to start the first five games…Collected 38 knockdowns with four touchdown-resulting blocks before missing the final seven contests with a lower right leg bone fracture suffered in the South Florida clash that required surgery four days after the injury occurred…With their left tackle in the lineup, the team averaged 205.8 yards rushing and 355.8 yards in total offense peer game…With Beatty sidelined, the Huskies were limited to 166.57 yards on the ground and 301.14 yards in total offense…Midway through the first quarter of the Indiana game, Beatty recorded a tackle when he stopped Tracy Porter after the defensive back picked off a D.J. Hernandez pass for a 22-yard return.

2005 SEASON

Beatty shared left offensive tackle duties with Craig Berry, appearing in eight games (did not play vs. Syracuse, Cincinnati and Rutgers)…Started his first collegiate game vs. Georgia Tech when Berry was sidelined with pneumonia…Earned three more starts late in the year vs. Pittsburgh, South Florida and Louisville…Made a solo tackle when he stopped Sam Bryant after the Pittsburgh defender intercepted a Matt Bonislawski fourth quarter pass for a 37-yard return.

2004 SEASON

Enrolled at Connecticut as a 265-pound offensive tackle, spending the season on the scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL

Attended William Penn (York, Pa.) High School, earning first-team All-County gridiron honors on both offense and defense…The team captain competed as a defensive end, defensive tackle, offensive tackle and tight end during his career…Earned a combined seven varsity letters in football, basketball and track…The center on the school’s basketball team, he was also an Honor Roll student and member of the Future Leaders of America.
