Clint Sintim To Start At Strong-Side?: sites the New York Daily News:

Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan confirmed that second-rounder Clint Sintim will start at strong-side linebacker.

Sintim will also be moved into a pass-rushing role on third-downs. Along with free agent acquisition Michael Boley on the weak side, the Giants have done a nice job upgrading their linebacking crew around Antonio Pierce. Danny Clark will move to a reserve role this season.
I searched all over the New York Daily News website and couldn’t find the article.  It seems a little early to name Sintim the starter but one never knows. also reports that Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan confirmed that he will keep a three-end rotation of Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, and Mathias Kiwanuka.

Kiwi won’t start, but he will be in on nickel situations or sub-defense on third-down, which Sheridan said will amount to 50-55% of time every game. Kiwi still has good sack potential, but his tackle numbers will suffer this season.

Same thing happened to me. I tried looking around the site and I couldn’t find anything. You’d think if Sheridan did say that, other sources would quote this at least.

I hope he did, it’s about time they did something new with that vanilla linebacker corps, I love Pierce in the middle, but think his intelligence cannot be matched and will deal with his slightly deteriorating skill set and the way to deal around that is to surround him with speed at the position, and with Boley and Sintim, that’s what they did…
I’m looking forward to see this defense, it could be one of the best in the league…

sintim was great in college and can bring a real pass rush presence to this linebacking core. one thing i didnt like about spags was that he didnt like to rush the passer with any linebackers last season. by the end of the season he had to because the D-line was so beat up that there was no push up the middle or at the ends to get a line backer a crease to blitz. I think the risk of rushing the backers is well worth the reward. in 2007 spags did it alot more and we had the most sacks in the leage. With sintim coming in who is a real good blitzing linebacker we could see a great pass rush like the 07 season. As the core is at the moment with Boley and Sintim on the outside and pierce in the middle we may see a very speacial core, not to be confused with the line backing core of 85-93, but one that can realy help this defense out.

for the first game of the year? im not sure. i think clark does fairly well against the run. sintim is far better in pass coverage, however. i say let clark start the beginning of the year, but bring sintim in on passing downs. then, as the season goes on, play sintim more and more and ease him into the starting role. why rush something that can end up being so special?
