Jacobs: We’re going to win 13 games. I don’t want Boldin OR Edwards

From Ralph Vachhiano at nydailynews.com/blog/giants

“We are going to have a new identity, a new scheme,” Jacobs said. “Hopefully a piece of that puzzle doesn’t come missing in the middle of the season and we’ve got to make another adjustment. It’s just a fresh year. And I think that we’re going to have a great season and going on to win at least 13 games.

“I’m putting us in that big dance early and whoever’s listening to it, I really don’t care if they don’t like it or not.”

A few minutes later, Jacobs was asked if he thought the Giants still had a chance to land Edwards. “No,” he said. “I think that’s over.”

“I love Braylon,” Jacobs said. “Braylon is a great guy and a great player. But I don’t think he’s New York. We don’t throw the ball enough for that.

“I don’t want him,” Jacobs added. “There’s great players in the league that I don’t want. I don’t know, I just think the chemistry between the teammates that I have now is great. We don’t need to add a new veteran to the whole group. I’m good with where we are. I’m glad that we didn’t go forward and get him or (Anquan) Boldin. And those guys are great guys (but) I’m not interested in that idea.”
Good to see that the Giants aren’t lacking confidence heading into this season.

Also Ralph Vacchiano says that Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden were very impressive-neither player dropped a pass in the first practice sessions and that hakeem Nicks apparently wears XXXL gloves, which goes along way to explaining why he has such great hands.

I tried looking around and the best i could find for a measurement of Hakeem Nicks’ hands were 10.5 inches from phinsider.com, but I don’t have any other sites yet to back that information up.

The average human hands is approximately 7.4 inches (wikipedia), which makes Hicks hands more than 3 inches larger than the average hand .

I’m trying to figure out how big the hands of players like Plaxico Buress, Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are

Nicks replied to comments about his hands by saying That’s in my job description,” Nicks said. “A wide receiver has to catch the ball. That’s what I do.”
Good. He didn’t score high on his wonderlic test, but he apparently understands that his job is to catch the ball-that’s probably the most important thing for a WR.
Maurice Covington WR, a player I was interested in has been cut so apparently he was not very impressive, however Sha’reff Rashad, a player that is a front runner I think of all the rookie tryouts to make the roster as a 4th safety (assuming they don’t move Terrell Thomas to safety) made an interception is probably going to find a spot on the roster, I think because of the lack of safety depth on the team.

That’s all I have for now.

As always, leave me a comment and I’ll take the time to respond.
