Nicks Chats With ESPN’S Matt Mosley……Says He Will Be Offensive ROY:

Here are some tidbits from Matt Mosley’s chat with Giants WR Hakeem Nicks.  I will post the full interview tomorrow when it is published.

  • When Nicks was at North Carolina, his offensive coordinator used to make him watch game film of Eli Manning and Plaxico Burress. Nicks said Burress is one of his favorite receivers and he loved when he ran the “deep post down the middle” and a variety of “speed routes.”

“He is the rare athlete,” Nicks said of Burress. “His height, eyes, speed … he’s just interesting to watch.”

  • Nicks’ favorite wide receiver is the Panthers’ Steve Smith, who used to visit his Charlotte, N.C., high school on a regular basis. Nicks finally met Smith his senior year at North Carolina and he fielded a congratulatory phone call from the Panthers receiver four days after he was drafted.
  • Nicks hasn’t come up with specific goals for the number of catches or touchdowns he wants to have this season, but he truly wants to be the rookie of the year. He insists that he doesn’t feel any pressure in replacing Burress.
