Interview With Steve Smith!

Today, we have a special treat, as Giants reciever Steve Smith was kind enough to answer a few questions for GiantsGab! Remember, you can visit Steve Smith’s Facebook page here, and his Twitter page here.

1. How do you see your role this year with the departures of Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer?

I see my role being defined by how well I play really. I know they are going to give me more opportunities which I’m excited about, and I expect to see positive results.
2. A lot of people tend to profile you as just a possession receiver, but do you think you have the tools to be the number one guy?

That seems to be the common question lately and all I can say is we will find out soon, but yes I believe that I have the tools to show I’m more than “just a possession receiver”.

3. What is your take on new receivers Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden?

Hakeem and Ramses have been very impressive so far. They’ve been in here working hard and asking lots of questions which is great to see from rookies.

4. Your 3rd down conversion during the game winning drive in the Super Bowl was one of the more underrated plays of that game. What was going through your head?

“Stop breathing so hard! (I was so tired). And get the 1st down!!”

5. What do you think is your greatest strength and weakness as a player?

My greatest strength is my mental toughness and my weakness that I am working on everyday to improve upon is my breaking tackles after the catch.

6. What’s it like playing for Tom Coughlin?

It’s fun playing for Coach Coughlin. He expects a lot out of you which is great because it makes you want to get out and validating yourself to him on an everyday basis.

7. The team struggled last year down the stretch. What do you think needs to be done to rectify that?

We are only focused on 2009 right now and aren’t looking back, but in a nutshell we just know that as an offense we need to score points.

8. What are your goals for this year, both  personally and for the team?

For the team its to bring another Super Bowl home to our fans of NY and NJ. If we do that then I don’t care about any personal goals. I know my personal performance is important to the team’s Offensive success so I just hope to stay healthy and make plays to help the team win.

Thanks again for the interview Steve! Remember to visit his Facebook and Twitter pages!

One Response to “Interview With Steve Smith!”

  1. […] Steve Smith: He enters this year as the presumptive number one. I think he’s up for it. He’s not very fast, but he’s quick, and catches almost everything. He’s not your prototypical number one in that he’s not tall and fast. But he’s capable of catching 100 balls, and scoring 10 TDs. Eli will rely on him greatly, especially on 3rd downs. If he can catch the ball, he will have a great year, because he will be thrown to a lot. We interviewed him here. […]
