The fine folks over at ESPN SportsTravel have put together a team-by-team training camp guide, if you are planning on heading over to training camp. Here’s the link to the Giants page. Here’s what they have to say:
• What Matt Mosley says: The Albany campus isn’t quite as idyllic as that of Lehigh University, where the Eagles train, but there are some neat touches. There’s plenty of space in the school’s football stadium to make sure you have excellent views. From these seats, you can watch Fox’s Jay Glazer extend man hugs to the Giants’ coaching staff. The Giants have their meetings over near the student union building, so there’s a chance you could walk the campus and run into Tom Coughlin or Justin Tuck. It happened to me last year.
• What to do besides training camp: The Albany area is host to a bevy of parks, including Washington Park, Buckingham Lake Park and Lincoln Park. Visit the New York State Capitol Building or the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, also known as SPAC. There also are several renowned museums, including the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame and the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, both of which are located in Saratoga Springs. Or play the ponies at charming Saratoga Race Course, the nation’s oldest organized sporting venue.
Training camp is a fun experience. I was there once a couple years ago. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from NYC. Very worth it. Here is the link to the training camp schedule, and directions and parking
