Tynes Hurt Again:

From Ralph Vacchiano:

The Giants are currently without a kicker.

Lawrence Tynes, the lone kicker in camp, is currently sidelined with a strained groin. He said he’s not exactly sure how he hurt it, but it happened just prior to Monday night’s practice.

During that practice, on an extremely wet field, he made 2 of his 4 kicks, but was obviously uncomfortable. So Tynes did not kick at all yesterday (the Giants were off, but he could’ve still gotten some work in) and he said he won’t kick at all today.

Tynes, who has connected on 22 of 26 field goals in camp so far said the injury is “not anything to worry about” and at the moment he expects he’ll be fine in time for the Giants’ preseason opener on Monday night. He believes the injury happened due to a combination of “a little bit of fatigue” and a change in technique.

The technique change, he said, is that he now sets up seven yards behind the ball on kickoffs and field goals. He used to set up 10 yards back. He said the change gives him more power and distance.

Great here we go again.  Quick call John Carney!
