According to The National Football Post, the Giants have reached an injury settlement with cornerback Stoney Woodson after waiving him. The report cites a source who says that Woodson has been getting calls from NFL teams, and is expected to sign after the first week of the season. The Giants waived/injured Woodson, which allows the player to get an injury settlement, which Woodson got.
I still can’t figure out why the Giants didn’t keep him. He had a great preseason, and the National Football Post says he could be playing very soon. He was a solid cover corner, and he is clearly better than his fellow draftee DeAndre Wright, who was getting burned against the Patriots. Stoney, I thought, would’ve been an important part of the secondary. Now, the Giants will have to see him succeed elsewhere.
