Here They Are…Your 2009 New York Giants!

With cutdown day done, this is a pretty accurate representation of the roster. There are many people on the waiver wire, and don’t be surprised if there is a pickup or two by the G-Men. Here’s the roster as it stands now:

QB : Eli Manning, David Carr

RB: Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, Danny Ware

FB: Madison Hedgecock

WR: Domenik Hixon, Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, Sinorice Moss, Derek Hagan, Hakeem Nicks, Ramses Barden

TE: Kevin Boss, Darcy Johnson, Travis Beckum

OL: David Diehl, Rich Seubert, Shaun O’Hara, Chris Snee, Kareem McKenzie, Kevin Boothe, Adam Koets, Guy Whimper, William Beatty, Tutan Reyes

DL: Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Mathias Kiwanuka, Barry Cofield, Fred Robbins, Chris Canty, Rocky Bernard, Leger Douzable, Dave Tollefson

LB: Antonio Pierce, Danny Clark, Clint Sintim, Chase Blackburn, Jonathan Goff, Bryan Kehl, Gerris Wilkins, Zak DeOssie (Michael Boley, but he’s on the suspended list for week 1)

DB: Aaron Ross, Corey Webster, Kevin Dockery, Terrell Thomas, Bruce Johnson, Kenny Phillips, Michael Johnson, CC Brown

K: Lawrence Tynes

P: Jeff Feagles

I’ll say this: I can’t see why the Giants think they need 10 offensive lineman, but feel fine with just 3 safeties. Something doesn’t add up there. Granted, only 9 of the offensive lineman are going to play– Will Beatty is watching and learning this year. And Guy Whimper is really only special teams fodder. I’m surprised they didn’t keep another safety. Maybe they’re trying to find one on the waiver wire. Still, looking at this roster, it’s a damn good team. They are great at defensive line, running back, quarterback, offensive line. Solid at all other  offensive and defensive positions. It’s a team, that, without playing a game, looks like it could be in store for Super things. We’ll do a season preview later on in the week.

Keeping Douzable over Evans or Rashad to me means that Canty is probably hurt pretty bad, expect him to be sent to PS when Canty comes back, and add a DB.
I don’t get the TE deal, unless they’re going to use a lineman as a TE on obvious running plays. I was the only one who kept saying Moss is going to be a big part of this team, and I guess there’s a chance of that now…
Can’t wait for next Sunday, enjoying the NCAA for now…

I am not surprised they decided to keep 7 receivers… they all had their moments and unlike last years model, more than enough receivers this year is far better than too few.

I’m also interested to see how they rotate Clint Sintim around — maybe put him on the end of the line later in games to keep fresh perspectives on the QB, shake things up a bit.

This team looks GREAT though, can’t wait!
