The Giants have announced their practice squad:
RB Allen Patrick
QB Rhett Bomar
S Vince Anderson
CB DeAndre Wright
S Sha’reff Rashad
DT Anthony Bryant
FB Nehemiah Broughton
TE Kareem Brown
Good to see that Bomar, Anderson and Wright cleared waivers. Allen Patrick could be up with the big team if a running back gets hurt. He impressed me in preseason duty. Broughton has kind of bounced around since being drafted by the Redskins in 2005. He’s a fullback/running back combo. Brown was drafted as a defensive lineman by the Patriots, but after bouncing around, was converted to tight end by the Jets. Don’t know if the Giants will keep him at tight end, or move him back to the defensive line. Someone with potential, though. And, our old friend Andre Woodson has signed with the Redskins practice squad. Coincidence?
I’m surprised Sha’reff Rashad didn’t make the final 53, but I’m glad to see him on this squad. His sniffing out the run and making crucial stops did NOT go unnoticed, and I think this guy has a bright future ahead especially if they need another safety to fill and injury spot down the road.
I didn’t see enough of Bomar to really get a feel for his capabilities — although I did see plenty of Woodson to know he’s not ready for prime time.
The thought of DeAndre Wright getting promoted has me nervous – are they keeping him around so he’ll give the Giants receivers more confidence in the long ball during practice? sheesh.
