The Giants must not be happy with their tight end situation. We know that they brought in Alex Smith for a visit. Now, they are bringing in Leonard Pope for a visit. Pope, formerly of the Cardinals, is 6-8, and a huge red zone target, but that size hasn’t really translated to production on the field. His best year was in 2007, when he caught 5 touchdowns and had 238 yards in the air. He has a ton of potential. I really liked him coming out of Georgia a couple years ago. I’m still surprised that the Giants aren’t bringing in a blocking tight end– Smith and Pope are more pass catching types. After the surprise trade of Michael Matthews, the Jints don’t really have a solid blocking tight end . Kevin Boss is more than adequate, but Travis Beckum and Darcy Johnson are athletic, pass catching types. I’ll be interested to see if they sign Smith or Pope.
