Next Day Thoughts: Giants Bucs

Here are some Next Day Thoughts after the Giants impressive 24-0 win over the Bucs

-This defense isn’t healthy? Wow. Imagine when it is. 86 yards, didn’t give up a first down until midway through the third quarter. Just amazing. Canty was out. Tuck wasn’t playing at full strength. Ross, Dockery out. Phillips out. And this defense looked like the second coming of the ’86 Bears.

-Steve Smith is quickly becoming of the best receivers in football. No, he doesn’t have blazing speed, and no, he’s not particularly tall. But he gets open. And he holds onto the ball.

-Derrick Ward who? Yeah, Wind didn’t look too good against the Giants defense. Ahmad Bradshaw was tremendous, however. He’s powerful, but slippery at the same time. An envious combination. He’s like a poor man’s Maurice Jones-Drew.

-I’m worried about Larry Tynes. I’ve always said that he’s an up and down kicker. But, to miss a chip shot like he did is unacceptable. I understand you’re going to miss kicks. But a chip shot like that? Not good. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a kicker or two brought in.

-We’ve been saying it a lot on the site, but it’s clearer now than ever before: Corey Webster is a top 5 cornerback. He shuts down one side of the field. Tremendous.

-Speaking of corners, Bruce Johnson was a hell of a find. And he wasn’t drafted? He sticks his man, and I don’t think I’ve seen him out of position. Jerry Reese strikes again.

-The Red zone offense improved, going 3-5. But, was that a product of playing the Bucs? The Jacobs and Smith touchdowns were way too easy. Can they do that against the Vikings? The Steelers? Not sure.

-When Kareem McKenzie went down, I was pretty concerned. But then Will Beatty came in and did a tremendous job. Truly tremendous. He looks thin out there, but he packs a powerful punch. Another solid draft pick.

-I know everyone is not on Twitter, where we “tweet” the games. And while it’s a lot of fun to do, I feel like we’re missing out on a lot of Giants fans and GiantsGab readers. Would you be interested in a live chat? It would be right on the site, no Twitter account needed.

  1. I was thinking live chat wouldn’t be a terrible idea.

Everyone could post their comments in the comment section during the chat…and all of us could onthe site could be invovled if we were around.

I’d try it out on Sunday and see how it goes.

you should throw up a mailbag this week too tommorrow see if we get anything…
