Should the Giants Keep Lawrence Tynes?

I like Lawrence Tynes. I do. My friends and I even call him the “other LT”. But, when he misses a 21 yarder, there is cause for concern. See, the thing with Tynes is this: He’s one of the best clutch kickers, as evidenced by the NFC Championship game, the Dallas game, etc. But he’ll miss a chip shot. And that has to concern you. So I put out to you: Should the Giants keep Lawrence Tynes? Should they bring in another kicker for competition? Just for short field goals? What say you?

I don’t think the Giants should have let Carney go. Tynes is inconsistent at times and I agree another kicker would be a great idea just to balance out things in the kicking game.

  2. I think we need a new kicker. You see Mason Crosby and Nick Folk of the Damn Cowboys but it seems like Tynes doesn’t get the job now. It has come to the point where I cross my fingers when its time for a 30 yarder.

    kickers run hot and cold

  4. People completely overlook some things. For instance last year Carney had 3 touchbacks all season-this year Tynes already two.

2007 Tynes hit 85 percentof his attempts…more than reliable David Akers

  5. Jay says:

I say keep him, when u have faith and trust in a player that goes a long way. For example our recievers.

  6. Andrew Ilnicki says:

Carney did not make the field goals that counted. When were they? Against the damn birds in the playoffs at home.

I love Carney’s streak as much as anybody, but you have to make the big kicks in the big games under crucial conditions.

Let’s stay with Tynes but this is a bit of a warning sign that won’t be forgotten.
