George Martin Named Executive Director For NFL Alumni:

Former Giant George Martin is being installed as Executive Director of the NFL Alumni Association.

According to Alex Marvez at, the position is newly-created and Martin, a former NFLPA president, was chosen from a group of 140 candidates. In his position, he will represent alumni interests on pension and disability issues in dealing with both the NFLPA and the NFL.

The creation of the NFLA is one of the most positive results that grew from the rancor raised by retired players in the past few years Martin, whose work in raising money for ailing 9/11 rescue personnel has been well-documented, seems a perfect choice given his past experience with the union and current good works in making sure those who sacrificed are well taken care of.
