5 Keys To Beating The Broncos

I feel weird doing this post on a Wednesday, but duty calls. The Broncos got off to a really hot start, but have lost 4 in a row, and are looking for answers. The Broncos need this game–badly. Here are 5 keys to beating the Broncos:

1. Stop Brandon Marshall

This will probably fall on the shoulders of Corey Webster. Which begs the question: Which Webster will show up? The one against Atlanta? Or the one against the Saints. For the Giants to win, the one against Atlanta has to show up. Marshall is tall, physical and explosive. Webster will have to use his speed and solid technique to stop him. If he plays like he did on Sunday, the Giants should be fine.

2. Stop Elvis Dumervil

Elvis Dumervil is a 5’10 pass rusher. Absolutely explosive. So fast. The Giants have to stop him. Luckily, the Giants have done a good job this year of limiting good pass rushers. They’ll need to do that tomorrow.

3. No Prevent

This should apply to all games. If the Giants are leading at the end of a half, and the Broncos have the ball, don’t play prevent. Stay with your defense. Stay with what works. If you don’t, you’ll have a repeat of the San Diego and Atlanta games. No one wants that.

4. The Short Passing Game

Eli Manning has been on fire, and it’s mostly due to the effectiveness of the short to medium passing game. You’re seeing Kevin Boss being used. Manningham is looking really good. So is Nicks. My advice is to keep doing that. Keep the short passing game, and gain some yards.

5. Start fast

It is going to be very, very loud in Denver tomorrow. Thanksgiving night. To take the crowd out of it, the Giants have to start fast. Maybe a big kick return, or a quick touchdown. Something to quiet the crowd.
