Rough Year For The Defensive Line:

I will never be an excuse maker for poor play but as I was reading today I began to put together a list of injuries to the defensive line of the Giants from this and the previous season.  They are in no particular order.

Jay Alford was lost to a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the preseason.

Rocky Bernard, who might be inactive Sunday for the first time all season, said he’s been dealing with undisclosed injuries (I hope they are bad because he has been terrible).

Justin Tuck’s shoulder injury is so painful, it was reported  he winced the other day while trying to open the plastic buckle on his laundry bag.

Fred Robbins had microfracture surgery on his knee last winter.

Barry Cofield underwent “reconstruction of the patella tendon” in his knee to relieve tendinitis and “some other stuff they found while they were in there that they handled it all at once.”

Chris Canty, meanwhile, must continue to adjust to playing in a 4-3 defense after five seasons in a 3-4 with the Cowboys, while also dealing with hamstring and calf injuries.

Osi clearly hasn’t fully recovered from his knee injury and has had tons of issues stopping the run this year.

Plus they lost Strahan!

It definitely has been an injury plagued position of late.

Let’s not forget Kenny Phillips! The main loss of the season.

Strahan taking off and moving Osi and Tuck to opposite sides of the field has had an obvious effect. Tuck is still playing extremely well for battling an injury.

    Kiwi has been fine

Cofield, Bernard, Canty, Osi — all having sub par years.
