Well, we’re at it again. Another big game. Another must win. The Giants need to keep winning to make the playoffs. We cannot not stress how important this game is. Here are 5 Keys to Beating The Eagles.
1. Cover Someone!
Let’s face it: The Giants pass defense sucks. It does. Corey Webster has fallen off. Bruce Johnson might be hitting a rookie wall. Right now, the only good thing in pass coverage is Terrell Thomas, and he gets beat more than once a game. The Eagles have a pretty good passing game. While there’s a possibility DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin won’t play, the Giants will still need to make some plays in coverage. Normally, I would recommend putting more guys in coverage, but that won’t work against the Eagles, because McNabb can create plays with his feet. He needs to be pressured (more on that later). The Giants should try playing zone, trust the safeties with the wideouts. Because I can’t trust the corners.
2. Pressure McNabb
McNabb can create plays with his feet. If you give him time, he’ll do that. The Giants have to get constant pressure on him. Force him to make mistakes. Make him uncomfortable. It seems that using Osi as just a pass rusher is working. He could have a big game.
3. Keep The Run Defense Going
Even with Westbrook out, it’s still imperative for the Giants to stop the run. That said, the Giants were awesome against the Cowboys in run support. Part of that has to do with Chris Canty starting. Keep it up, Giants. It’s working.
4. Run Game
With the weather supposedly going to be rough, the Giants can’t afford to have a “Eli wind” game. They need Jacobs and Bradshaw to really set the tone and get some yards. Because if the Giants can’t pass, and the running game isn’t doing anything, then the Eagles will just stack the box and make Eli beat them. The run game needs to be strong. I think it will be.
5. Come to Play!
I’ll say it once, I’ll say it ten thousand times: This is the Super Bowl. The biggest game of the year for the G-Men. They need to come to play. They need to have heart, fire, passion. They need to come to play.

other than playing straight up zone which has LOST more games then it has won, I agree with you that they need to cover and prevent the big play. but what inevitably happens is the Eagle then start in with Celek over the middle and all the underneath quick routes and its over before you know it.
IF the Eagles try to take away the underneath like Gilbride thinks they will, then the Giants should do the same and cover the run and long ball, and see who wins the matchup all squared up. who can out execute who sunday night in the cold windy weather — thats what it will come down to. who wants it more in a very evenly matched game with lots of intensity.
but i have this feeling that the Giants show up sunday night and kick some tail.
enough it enough — and i think the Giants know it and are up for this game. can’t wait!!
