Playoff Picture

Now that the Saints perfect season has ended to the Cowboys. The playoff picture gets even more complicated. I am just going to focus on the NFC east as the NFC South and NFC north have already been clinched.

The Giants trail first place by 2 games while the Cowboys only trail the Eagles by half a game.
For the Giants to secure a wildcard spot, they need: The Cowboys to lose to the Redskins next week, or for them to lose to the Eagles the following weekend. I honestly don’t think that the Giants will win the NFC east, as they would need both the Eagles and Cowboys to lose there next two games. I think that if they do make the playoffs, they will not go very far as there defense is porous.

2 words of advice for the Giants.

If it came down to the Cowboys or Giants getting into the playoffs, of course I’d rather see the Giants get in, just get the smirk off Jerry Jones’ face. But in the bigger scheme of things, I’d rather not see the Giants in the playoffs because (1) – They will most likely get humiliated in their first game, and (2), if they they make the playoffs, they are more likely to keep the sorry coordinators they have now. I know that is a very pessimistic way of looking at things, but that’s how I feel about this season. The sad thing is, the team that was collected that won a superbowl – that team in finished. They need some major rebuilding. Not so much in the ‘skill’ positions, but in the trenches, along the lines. And the secondary. Sad to see the Giants be a one hit wonder.

i don’t even understand how sheridan got the job anyway… i mean, really, after spag left and they decided to give the job to someone inside the staff, it should go to someone who exceled at the previous job… sheridan was the linebackers coach, which, let’s face it, was the worst part on the defense (can’t blame him entirely for that, he didn’t had the “human material”, but still), so since the begining he’s the wrong guy in charge…

  3. John i disagree about the secondary.

    The secondary is VERY young.

corey Webster is the only veteran in the entire secondary.

Michael Johnson, Kenny Phillips, Aaron Ross, Terrell Thomas, Bruce Johnson

are all players drafted in 2007 or later.

I think Ross, Webster and Thomas have shown they can play.

They need a healthy kenny Phillips, and another safety who can protect the deep ball.

can the Giants play dominant football with the personnel they currently have?

yes… if you’re a Giants fan that is the outlook you want to set your gaze upon tonight. And it comes down to executing the game plan. While sheridan’s schemes at time have been questionable, the philly game highlighted lack of execution at secondary, not game plan.

Carolina also beat down Minnesota, that should give the Giants a heads up for the recipe to beat that team… pressure the QB and stop the run which the Giants have 3 games to re-figure out how to do that and execute consistently.
