Coughlin Quotes From Today’s Presser

In case you missed it, Tom Coughlin had a press conference this afternoon. Here are some highlights:

• on whether or not Bill Sheridan will be fired:

“We are in the process of evaluating everything… including injuries, personnel decisions, everything.”

Now you should know that TC did not indicate when he would tell us his final decision, but he reiterated several times that he is “in the process of evaluating” — and that is as specific as he got.

• on the Giants recurring running game woes:

“We need to regain our identity”

“We did not accomplish what we wanted to there… ”

“We tried to be balanced… did not always accomplish that goal”

“Going forward it will be fixed”

• on whether or not he had concerns about his defense in the beginning of the year:

“We could not stop the run….”

“Recognized issues there as early as week 2 in Dallas.”

• on Brandon Jacobs’ performance/injuries:

“His injury took a toll in practice, he could not go as fast as you would want him to”

“On Sunday, he showed up. The injury issues, it’s no excuse”

• on Kenny Phillips’ status:

“Doing very well.”

“Is on schedule…. but it’s a slow process.”

• compared to ascent n 2007, TC on what caused the collapse in 2009:

“Obviously it’s performance oriented.”

“There are a bunch of things I’m not going to say…”

“But it’s part of what is going to be evaluated”

///////

I think it’s clear Bill Sheridan is on the hook here, TC and JR just need to get together and figure out a way to tell him.

  1. Jerry Reese echoed Coughlin’s sentiments that they are evaluating everything. No specifics were announced.

  2. Mickey B says:

It’s one thing to say “people need an attitude adjustment”. I bet if you ask all 45 guys, they will, to a man, all say the same thing.

But WHO needs the attitude adjustment? Do we know WHO is the problem?

  3. The Giants still have some class and typically dont throw each other under the bus.

TC will find a way to let us know gently that they are pursuing other “opportunities”

a nice positive spin to a firing if there ever was one
