Bruce Arians: Out in Steel City?

PFT is reporting that Ken Laird from ESPN Radio leaked a report the Steelers Offensive Coordinator Bruce Arians will be jobless in the coming days. The Steelers deny any such report, and Arians went so far as imply Ken Laird will be the one getting laid off due to the premature flap. Coach Mike Tomlin never said anything in his presser pertaining to Arians’ departure… it’s a confusing and entertaining story that most likely holds little to no water whatsoever in any capacity.

But it gets you thinking as a Giants fan — if Kevin Gilbride either takes that coaching job in Oakland or is given his own pink slip from CEO Mara via coach Coughlin…. would we want to see the Giants move in and scoop up Bruce Arians?

From one former power rushing team to another — Arians might be the creative cat the Giants would be looking for to step in and shift perspective even further and help the Giants grow into a more complete offensive powerhouse, now that we have a receiving core to speak of.

Thoughts on that potential scenario?

  1. Maybe kenny was talking about this nugget and goofed:

“A league source tells the National Football Post that Steelers offensive line coach Larry Zierlein has been fired.”

  2. Michael S. says:

Most of the coaches the giants are targeting run a 3-4 defense which is great in mind. Sure, everyone will say that we won the SB with a 4-3 but times change. Offenses know how to better protect the 4-3 since it’s been there longer. The 3-4 or hybrid (which is both) defense might be a great idea. I’m ALL for it.
What I would do if we switch to a 3-4…. Enjoy
    -draft Terrence Cody for NT
-move cofield and Alford to strongside end (5 technique)
-move tuck weakside end but in a 4-3 end position (7 technique)
-move osi and kiwi to strongside rush linebackers (nice rotation)
-move sintim to weakside linebacker (better coverage skills)
-Trade, draft or pickup in FA a middle LB to play next to Boley
-Webster, Thomas , Ross, and Johnson are corners
-Trade, draft or pickup in FA a great coverage safety to play next to KP21
