AFC, NFC Championship Game Picks

Yeah, the Giants aren’t in it. And that sucks. But, I still love football, and I’m still watching the playoffs. Just wanted to throw my two cents in on who’s going to go to the Super Bowl.

JETS AT COLTS:

At first glance, the Colts are the clear favorite. Great offense, pretty good defense. And you have Peyton Manning. To paraphrase Stephen A. Smith, quite frankly, that’s all you need. But, the more and more I think about it, the more and more I lean towards the Jets. The Jets remind me a lot of the 2007 Giants. Great defense, great run game. They don’t ask the QB to do too much, but when they do, he delivers. Jets are hot. They have that magic about them. The Colts are good, but the Jets’ mojo may be too much.

FINAL SCORE: Jets 24, Colts 17

VIKINGS AT SAINTS

This should be a fun game. Saints can score on anyone, but so can the Vikes. It all comes down, in my mind, to whoever can make the most stops. I think it’s the Saints. They will have to make some big plays–I’m looking at you, Darren Sharper–but I think that their defense is better than the Vikes. The Saints will have to find a way to stop Jared Allen, mostly by putting a tight end on him.

FINAL SCORE: Saints 24, Vikings 14

  1. Colts are getting no respect at all.

Fact Colts faced the 2nd most plays on defense this year, yet they are 8th in points allowed during the season with an average of 19.2 points per game.

If you take away the last two games where they gave up they gave up 17.7 points per game (which would put them at about 5th best in the league)

This is a good defense AND A good offense

  2. Júlio César says:

Let’s see how Peyton will handle the blitzes… if he plays smart as usual, bye Jets… if he get any trouble, then i think the green guys have a shot as long as sanchez don’t screw with it

  3. Jason C. says:

So many people were picking the Jets today, I’m just glad Rex Ryan got to eat his words, I can’t stand big mouths whether they reside in NY or not. I’d like to know where the refs heads were at when Favre was cheap shot below the knees while throwing an int which changed the entire game. Unrelated, just saw a mock draft with Eric Berry dropping to pick 13, can we trade up a few picks if the guy is around say at pick 10-11?
