way to be Fuchs, was just going to post the news and you got there first!!
I cannot believe its over…. i mean i can but i can’t.
wasn’t expecting it so suddenly, and didn’t think it would be so definitive as this announcement.
this team really is going to be a different animal next season
AP ultimately will be missed

I guess this means the giants are going MLB in the draft.
I know we got Goff, and maybe Boley can step inside and Kehl
go outside, but there is a serious need for a playmaker and leader
in the middle, and I don’t know if the answer is within the team.
Maybe sign some big name in FA, though I don’t know who is out there
to fill the role.

i think dansby and gary brackett could fit in(free agents)
New to the form…but love the reports and the breaking news
Wow…I agree Andrew, didn’t see this happening so quickly. This is really going to be a new defense this year. We just lost our last defensive leader on the field. Guys are going to have to step up and Fewell’s going to have really find leaders on this D. Hopefully Tuck or someone else will step up. I don’t think Pierce wants to hang it up yet, but he would be a good assistant LB coach and should stay with big blue. His Quarterbacking on defense will be missed.
Rumor is we’re making a run for Karlos Dansby…..
WTF. I didn’t see this coming what’s so ever. Actually Ilnicki your right I did but in all fairness he did suck last season, so he had to see it coming also. Do you see any team picking him up in the off season? I don’t.
In other news was Ramses a good run blocker in college, I see him in the starting lineup with Nicks by midseason because smith and manningham are terrible run blockers. Thoughts?
Actually now that I think about it manningham might be the next santonio holmes.
yea so because smith cant run block your ganna take 1200 yards out of the starting lineup, Good Idea lets take our number one probowl reciever out of play to put in a guy who caught one pass last season
My gut feeling is we will be running alot of 3 wide reciever sets from under center. Smith will still play a lot of snaps.
Wes welker starts but from the slot. Our offense has several players out of position. It’s time we rectafy that situation.
then why do we need run blocking recievers if where doing 3 wide out sets. we have a 4000 yard qb and an established wideout star, ramses barden is still considered a project. wes welker is in the slot cause new england passes the ball all the time. And who is out of position. we have kevin boss a good tight end three WR over 700. A top 5 Qb, whos out of position in our offense. New england also doesnt the run the ball, when was the last time you saw wes welker or randy moss make a block. so why would you compare there wide outs to ours if you want a run team. Steve Smith has become a reciever that defenses game plan against you cant take him out.
The patriots don’t run when was there last championship. We didn’t run 8-8 record, i think that speaks for itself. Saints couldn’t run las season 4 or 5 wins this year they did run 13 wins and a superbowl. Running protects the QB, we all want to provide Eli with protection. Stevie is best as a slot reciever, deihl is best as a guard, Madison hedge is a weight lifter(lol). Uhm oh yea and we are a running team that wants to maximize our talent during our superbowl run law in the season toomer and plax on the outside with Stevie smith in the slot formula is a superbowl. 12-4 record what was our line up toomer and plax on the outside with Stevie in the slot. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Running wins when you know how to throw. Which is why the Vikings got favre. When they didn’t have him first round exit from the playoffs. Balance wins, no balance loses. Blocking recievers will greatly improve our Balance. I hope I proved my point. One more thing nicks is the truth.
i want to see more single back 3 wide formations — two tight end formations, and i want Ahmad Bradshaw as the featured back.
not only for draw plays and straight on running the football, but for catching out of the backfield.
3 wide, bradshaw, and perhaps travis beckum running an quick out — you cant stop that.
f*ck hedge, seriouly. the man CANNOT catch the damn football. put him on special teams next year…. keep him in blocking and he telegraphs the run. hes a liability plain and simple!
I like the thoughts here…. but I’m not so sure that Rolando McClain really is first round talent. I know alot of mocks have him going in the first, but I don’t know. Maybe trade Umenyiora for a LB and pick up a DE in the draft?
Now that I think about it, wasn’t Goff suppose to be a good leader in college? Maybe Fewell should give him a chance.
But a bulging disk suffered last season might have played into the Giants’ decision to cut him now. Pierce, 32 http://usspost.com/antonio-pierce-usspost-com-5536/

As one of the few that really appreciated AP’s stay with the Giants from beginning to end, this is sad to hear, I just hope if they’re going in a different direction, that it’s the right one. There is no MLB in this draft that can step in and start right away IMO, so free agency it is (hopefully).
There is no one in Free agency to replace Pierce, Dansby is a 3-4 ILB, very different from a 4-3 MLB.
The Giants are not going into the season with Goff and Blackburn as there options for MLB. So they have 2 options.
Option 1: The draft
The early reports are that Reese likes McClain, but it is still earlier. He could make a trade to go get him. But will he be able to start immediately? Will he be ready? There is a risk vs reward with this option.
Option 2: Trade.
Since many of the suppose to be FA are now RFA, the Free agency pool has diminshed, and the 3rd best player, is now the best player avilable. So the logical move would be to make a trade with a team, but for who? And for what?
Jerry Reese said before that if the labor union didnt come to an agreement, there would be a lot of trades to get players, and he could be the first to do so.
I am personally split on the decision. I like McClain, but a young, proven player is tempting (depending on who it is)
theyre going in a different direction, maybe they are going back to a 3-4 for realzies
McClain is questionable to be effective in a 4-3 just as Dansby. In that case I’d rather the more experienced player, however I’d prefer Demeco Ryans, possibly cheaper, great tackler, experience in the 4-3. Also to the person benching Steve Smith, please become an Eagles fan and suggest putting Jackson on the bench.
I like McClain, but yea there is definitly a risk since he is a 3-4 MLB (combine should let us know his speed). Some players can make the transition, others cant. John Vilma for the saints was an awful 3-4 ILB for the Jets, he swiched teams, and now he is a very good 4-3 MLB.
I do like Demeco Ryans from the texans too, so it will be intresting to see what the compensation would be to get him, since he is gonna be a RFA.
I am glad I dont have Reese’s Job, because I honestly have no idea on what he is going to do. Or what the right move is
Best play ever by AP

Gonna miss AP big time he was the heart and soul of the D and they died out there last year without him.
Gonna rock my AP signed jersey to every homegame next year baby! http://www.steinersports.com/antonio-pierce
