the Chargers released LaDainian Tomlinson Monday after nine seasons with the team.
I couldn’t help but wonder, if the Giants SOMEHOW choose to sign LT this offseason and perhaps release one of their other backs — if nothing else wouldn’t it be a good marketing move to put the emphasis back on the team’s running game by signing the familiarly monikered veteran of the backfield?
Say what you want about whether or not LT could perform on the field for the Giants — you can’t deny that the initials “LT” bring back good memories of domination by Big Blue, literally. LT signing with the Giants could easily be the best branding move he could ever make, and the reasoning behind that goes without saying.
But the question is, would it be good for the Giants to do so?
I have my opinion, let us know yours in the comments.

NO WAY. HE IS TOO OLD AND SLOW FOR US PLUS BRADSHAW, JACOBS AND DANNY WARE WILL EXCEL.
I like LT, but he is WAY past his prime. Five years ago, of course. He’s old, injured, and ineffective. Not for me.
God no!!! And not even because he’s career is over. It’s because he’s not the real LT and to have To hear anouncers call him that will be a mockery to the greatest pash rusher in Giants history. He ain’t no LT.
No thanks. I would rather have Danny Ware starting, then LT. What does he have left in the tank?
And there are quite alot of people (giants fans) who dont like LT being called “LT”
I think Tomlinson would come to the Giants with a renewed sense of purpose, for one thing.
The scheme is different, and we know the reliance on blocking is a big deal — something Ware does well and is something LT has not been asked to do as much…. but is Ware really going to be better than LT?
LT clearly peaked in 2006 and has been in decline ever since, but I think its still a valid question considering the woes of the running game last year. This might be one way to reignite it.
Just sayin
We already have one broken down RB, why add another?
Ware was disappointing last year, and might even lose his roster spot to Johnson, is LT worth keeping on a roster over Johnson?? YES. Is his demands of being on the field for as long as he’d like worth upsetting the RB rotation now? Probably Not…
If he comes knowing he’d be a 2-3 option and the money is right, I’d do it in a heartbeat, but would he be opposed to that kind of role?
No way Ladanian is way past his prime and I think Ahmad Bradshaw is ganna become a featured back. and by the way there was only one LT and thats Lawrence Taylor
