Giants To Look At Jeff Garcia And Mark Brunell

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Giants will consider some veterans for the spot of back up quarterback.  It was already reported that Jim Sorgi will be visiting but now add to the list Jeff Garcia and Mark Brunell.

Garcia spent last season out of the league, but he would like to get back in.  His agent says Garcia doesn’t have a visit planned “yet” but he is “waiting to hear” from New York.

I like the idea of bringing in Garcia, a proven winner, who when given the chance plays with fire and emotion.

I would love to have Garcia as our number 2. Excellent move getting Rolle! Now, With the first pick we go ILB only if Mcclain or Weatherspoon is there.(Play Spoon at ILB- not too much of a reach at 15)Then grab the best DT in the second.(I like Odrick) If not, get the highest DT at 15(Dan Williams) and try to grab spikes in the second. Third round pick up an OT. Fourth rd CB. Fifth round Safety. Sixth round look for a kicker if possible or a blocking TE. Seventh round take the Best player avail. I wouldn’t mind trading up to 11 or 12 for Mcclain and giving up a 5th in which case take a Safety in the Sixth. Or trading back to 19 or 20 for an extra pick and Weatherspoon. But what do you think about taking Mays at 15 and moving him to ILB? All he’ll have to do is gain an extra 5 pounds.

    • Jesse Cassel says:

Mays is a saftey, why take the chance of switching him to linebacker and it not working out. I say just sign a veteran MLB and then draft another in the second round so that we have the backer for next year and also one for the future

  2. andrew i says:

i like that idea as well, jeff garcia is a winning QB whether he starts or fills in. a seasoned well worn guy.

  3. Jeremy says:

i would like a backup QB who can instruct Eli somebody who’s opinion will hold wait.

  4. kman says:

garcia or brunell fine, sorgi no

    • Dylan B. says:

I agree but BRUNELL would fit in New York better than Garcia not downing garcia or nothing but Brunell has played much longer, he has been a backup, and he is fine with setting the bench if thta is what it takes to win.

  5. Adam Y. says:

i think we should try to get Marc Bulger. I know hes had bad season the past two or three years but he doesnt really have much to work with on the Rams. I think he still can go out and be productive if Eli ggets hurt (knock on wood that he wont) and seen as hes had some bad years it probably wont be expensive getting him for a 2 or 3 year deal. And seen as Spags is out there he might be willing to help out the giants because of the history between them.

  6. Jason C. says:

I’m all for Sorgi, Eli IS the man, the backup has to be someone who is used to playing a backup role, someone who will accept if something were to happen to Eli, his job is to go in and not make any mistakes, Garcia and
Brunell are both guys who would love to resurrect their careers with any chance. Sorgi would be happy handing the ball off when the time comes.

  7. Dylan B. says:

I think the Giants should get MARK BRUNELL. Him and Tom Coughlin was together during the 1990’s in Jacksonville and nearly made two Superbowl appearances. Also, Sean Payton New Orleans coach says that Mark is the reason the Saints went to the Superbowl in 2009 because of his time in the league and his knowledge of making plays. GIVE HIM A CHANCE NEW YORK GO BRUNELL!
