    definetely!
he is kind of an insurance. Worst case scenario: KP doesn’t get to his old form and we still have a playmaker on the field. Best case scenario: KP is back at 100% and we have 2 playmakers in the secondary.
If the Giants can afford it, then I don’t see the problem, I only see the benefit 🙂

  2. I agree, the cost of doing nothing in the secondary was far greater than how they acted.

  3. Steve B. says:

Well its nice to have a starting capable safety not named Kenny Phillips.

Rolle brings Leadership, experience, playmaking ability, and best of all if him and KP are on their field at the same time, our safety play went from a weakness to a strength. (similar to last year with WR group)

And lets not forget that Rolle has only been playing the safety position for 2 years, still has a lot to learn.

I know that Dave Meritt must be jumping for joy, that is our safeties coach. He has always been known to be a good coach, who did well with less talent. Now the Giants could have 2 pro bowlers back there – exciting.

I would recommend people to watch some highlights on youtube of him. He is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, on defense, and special teams.

  4. 25 of 25 people so far say 100% yes – not bad.

Assuming we don’t trade down for extra picks, though i doubt that’ll be an option anyway, we’ll likely stay put at 15. Assuming that’s the case, I agree lineman in the 1st, Offensive or Defensive depending on Value. The 1st round has to be Can’t Miss. Either Lineman, or Mclain.

In the second round Im guessing MLB or offensive lineman. The draft is linebacker heavy, rather thats what I hear.

In the third round Jerry Reese goes specialist again, (MM in 08′, Ramses last year) this is the round where its okay to gamble. Maybe scat back or pass rush specialist, or even better a center. If everything works out a center might have good value in the third round. But its a crapshoot, the amount of variables in a given draft are astronomical.

  6. Jason C. says:

2 people said no, either Eagles fans or people who are way too money conscious, even though it isn’t their money. As stated about Nick Collins, it isn’t that the Giants signed the biggest safety contract EVER, just at the time, every day that goes by someone is going to sign a record contract, that’s why if the two sides come together on any form of a salary cap it will certainly be increased from last years.

    • Rey says:

      Not an Eagles fan.

Was Rolle part of the Cardinal defense that gave up 90 points in two playoff games (Packers and Saints)?

Giants signed him because he picked off an Eli Manning pass. We may end up seeing the back of his jersey more than we bargained for.

  7. DVision says:

    @Rey

You act like this is a 1 on 1 sport like boxing. Yeah he was PART of that defense. There were 10 other components to that unit. That’s like saying every player on our D sucks because look how many points we gave up this season.

He’ll be playing in a new system with new players. He has a ton of potential and athleticism. Fewell and Coughlin obviously believe he’ll be a good fit in the scheme they plan on using. We’ll see how it works out.
